Harmonious and well-balanced. When it comes to teaching “manners” to more robust varietals, Merlot is always an effective choice – it takes some edge off of the tannins and adds fruit and roundness, as displayed here. Ripe plums and black cherry compote are encased in a structure of leather and dark chocolate. Very accessible and highly versatile.
Pairings: Meat dishes (especially from Mediterranean cuisines), cheese board
Storage potential: 9 - 11 years (can be significantly longer under ideal conditions)
