This wine has passed its final exam and is ready to enter university - much of its evolution is yet to come, but it has already attained an impressive bit of maturity. It first introduces itself with bewitching aromas of plum, aniseed, and cinnamon, along with a touch of driftwood. With continued aeration, scents of fresh-cut flowers and hints of liquorice arrive on the scene. Though full, ripe, and smooth at the front, at the back it delivers quite an exciting tannin bang. This wine makes it unmistakably clear that it would be glad to spend many years in the cellar and that one can expect even more from it in the future. Despite spending 36 months in wood, it is not "woody", and is wonderfully balanced. A well-executed performance which promises an even brighter future.
Pairings: Beef, lamb, and hearty stews
