CBD is an extract from the female hemp plant (cannabis). CBD has been claimed to have healing properties: to produce pain-relieving, anti-anxiety, and anti-inflammatory effects and also to have a calming influence. However, even after decades of research, medical studies of the compound are still “inconclusive”; thus, the value of these claims remains uncertain. However, when infused into wine, CBD contributes to the aromatic profile on no uncertain terms. For example, extracts from the Sativa strain give white wines more citrus freshness, while CBD from the Indica strain enhances the development of fruit aromas in red wines. A most interesting topic which is sure to continue to intrigue the public for years to come.
