Carignan

Secret superstar from the south of France. In fact, Carignan originated in Spain, but in its native area around the town of Cariñena, from which its name was derived, it has been almost completely displaced by Grenache (Garnacha). Its appealing tannins, lively acidity and rather modest fruitiness cause experts and connoisseurs to disagree as to how highly this varietal should be valued. In dry conditions and a semi-arid climate Carignan plays to all of its strengths, shining with elegance.
